Universal Plan theory states that God is a logical necessity, and that he is indeed benevolent.
It says that everything everything works by logic and can be explained by it.
So, the UP has a responsibility to furnish us with some kind of justification / explanation.
It must be able to provide us with a rational answer to the problem of evil.
So, this is the purpose of TMS.
The solution that emerges is more complete and compelling than any other.
It offers a feasible answer to the problem and paints a picture of a wider reality beyond this world.
It explains who we are, where we came from, and why this world is so full of suffering.
TMS also offers a new perspective on other theodicies and mythological accounts.
It arguably explains them better, subsumes them into a wider view, and provides a more solid foundation for them.
Overview
The argument presented in this book is based on the principles of Universal Plan (UP) theory, which is the framework of thought that underlies much of the reasoning.
It includes discussions on the following topics.
- Heaven and hell.
- Sin and virtue.
- Immortality and "gods".
- The purpose of life on Earth.
- Who or what controls this world.
- What rules does it operate under.
- How this world could be constructed.
- The concepts of "karma" and reincarnation.
- Correlations with religion and mythology.
If God is omnipotent and benevolent, why didn't he create a world without suffering?
The answer is: he did, but this is not that world!
